From Las Vegas to Negril: A Destination Wedding Makeup Adventure
When it comes to destination weddings, every detail counts, and for brides looking for the perfect makeup artist, the stakes are even higher. As a licensed esthetician and makeup artist with over a decade of experience, I’ve had the privilege of helping countless brides feel stunning on their special day. Recently, I was honored to travel to Negril, Jamaica, to do just that for my long-time client Rosalyn.
Rosalyn, who then lives in Florida, had been a frequent visitor to Las Vegas and a regular client at Ashford Beauté. Over the years, we’d bonded during her visits, sharing laughs and memorable moments. So, when she reached out to ask if I could do her makeup for her destination wedding in Negril, I was thrilled.
A Journey to Remember
My adventure began with a flight to Montego Bay, followed by a scenic two-hour drive to Negril. With a day to spare before the wedding, I explored the beautiful fishing villages and soaked in the breathtaking views of the coastline. Negril’s charm, with its vibrant culture and lush landscapes, was the perfect prelude to the big day.
That evening, Rosalyn and I met to finalize her bridal look. She envisioned a soft, romantic vibe that would withstand Negril’s humid climate—especially with a rainstorm looming. We settled on soft pink tones, glowing skin, and a generous dose of highlighter for a radiant, long-lasting finish.
The Big Day
Rosalyn’s wedding day was filled with laughter and joy. She’s a natural comedian, and we spent the entire makeup session cracking up. One of my favorite moments was capturing a video where she’s trying to tell a story while we’re both laughing uncontrollably.
Despite the looming rain, Rosalyn’s wedding day unfolded beautifully. Just as her guests arrived, the skies miraculously cleared, giving her a magical window of sunshine to walk down the aisle. Her makeup, set with the One/Size Setting Spray, remained flawless through the ceremony, photos, and reception—proving it’s a must-have for any bride.
A Picture-Perfect Celebration
The happy couple exchanged vows surrounded by friends and family. As the last photos were taken, raindrops began to fall, prompting everyone to move to the reception area. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect, and Rosalyn didn’t need a single touch-up all night. Her glowing complexion and joyful spirit were the highlights of the event.
Reflecting on the Experience
Traveling to Negril for Rosalyn’s wedding was an unforgettable experience. From the breathtaking scenery to the heartwarming celebration, it reminded me why I love what I do. The journey back to the airport was just as magical, with my driver stopping at various spots to let me take in Jamaica’s beauty.
While Las Vegas is a top destination for many brides, this trip opened my heart to the joys of traveling for destination weddings.
